You are required to write a 2000 word report which analyses the current employment opportunities your chosen career and field of professional practice. (my chosen career is accounting and finance) Assessment Task Within this assignment you will demonstrate your ability to: Synthesise information from a range of sources This means we expect to see different sources used including: text books, journals, statistics, websites, newspaper articles, professional bodies etc. You need to show that you are not simply describing research or statistics but that you are analysing and applying this information to your own personal career aspirations. Assessment Criteria You need to cover each of the four sections listed below. Try to balance your word count equally between the four main sections. An analysis of current employability trends (25%) In this section you analyse current research relating to the job market. You should analyse the job market in which you wish to work. For example job trends in the UK or a particular region, or another country. You may want to include an analysis of trends in your chosen career path. An evaluation of the impact of external factors influencing work and career patterns (25%) In this section you analyse external factors , you can use an anlysis model such as PESTLE to guide you in relation to external factors influencing your chosen career path. An analysis of advertising, recruitment and selection methods related to your chosen career (20%) In this section you analyse current trends for your chosen career path. How are jobs advertised, typically what kinds of recruitment and selection practices are commonly used within your chosen sector. IT may be that psychometrics testing is commonly used or assessment centres for gradutae training schemes.Give examples of graduate vacancies where possible. Analysis of relevant professional standards and competences (including behaviours) (20%) In this section you analyse and synthesise sources of information to determine the standards and behaviours which are required in your chosen career. This information can be found in job adverts, professional body websites and publications, journals, books etc. Give examples where possible. Use examples form professional bodies such as CMI. ACCA ACMA CIM etc Presentation(10%) Your report must be submitted in the standard business report format. References and citations must follow the standard Harvard Referencing Guide (guidance available on NILE for both of these). Report format The report should be in a page numbered report format and include the following: – Header containing- student ID, your seminar tutor and the word count. – Table of Contents and page numbers – Section headers and sub headers (related to the suggested headings above) – Diagrams numbered and labelled appropriately – References – on a separate page using the Harvard reference system (guidance is available on NILE and the skills hub ) References should be cited within the report and listed in full, in alphabetical order, at the end of the report in Harvard Referencing Format. The word count is 2000 and this does not include the reference list at the end of the report.
