What are the four healthcare delivery system models
Part 1 1. What are the four healthcare delivery system models (please name, define and discuss their basic schemes)? 2. What features of the U.S. healthcare delivery system distinguish it from other nations? 3. Why do US healthcare reform efforts usually fail before the Pres. Obama’s administration and what are the three basic goals of ACA and the rights and protections by ACA? 4. How does central planning for healthcare delivery in the US differ from other countries? 5. Why is the US healthcare marketplace imperfect? Part 2 In M-1, there is much discussion of healthcare system delivery modules accompanied by a high-level overview of the US healthcare system and its past and current efforts to reform its health system. Please read Jenna Flannegan’s piece Why Doesn’t the United States Have Universal Healthcare, and then read Ezra Klein’s piece Singapore’s “miracle” health care system the answer for America. See resource citations infra. Afterwards, consider whether the US provide universal health coverage? If it does, should its policymakers scrap ACA, keep ACA and remediate its deficiencies, or replace it with an alternative system similar to Singapore’s scheme? Then address the question whether Singapore’s system in an option given the US’s current delivery model and the presence of strongly held beliefs and values regarding personal liberty and free market economics?
