Persuasive Essay: Abortion

For this assignment, you will choose a controversial issue and write a persuasive essay arguing for or against it. You must convince the reader of your argument; therefore you need a strong, debatable thesis statement. Your supporting paragraphs will explain, prove and defend the point of view stated in your thesis. This essay is to be in APA format. In order to defend your point of view, you will have to do research for your essay. Research your topic thoroughly and back up your own points of view with case studies, statistics, examples or facts. Start your research as early as possible. Be sure to choose a topic or idea that you are familiar with and that interests you or affects you in some way. If you are emotionally connected to the topic, it will be easier to write about. In addition, you should include the opposing viewpoint to your topic and a rebuttal in order to give your essay credibility.
