How does each phase of the criminal justice system contribute to the racial disparity in the U.S. criminal justice system?

We have discussed and read about three phases of the criminal justice system and their relation to race and crime (i.e., police, courts, and sentencing/corrections). How does each phase contribute to the racial disparity in the U.S. criminal justice system?
