What do you think America would be like if the citizens were to not have as much freedom?

Many people are no longer having personal freedom due to the government starting to control what websites they are able to go on through the internet and surveillance the government is setting up. In the study I read there were 195 countries assessed and 26% were rated not free at all, the two worst countries were reported to be the Middle East and North Africa. What do you think America would be like if the citizens were to not have as much freedom?
