Research Paper (15 points): instructions on paper. The purpose of the short paper (6-8 pages; using at least 8 sources, at least 5 of which are academic, at least 4 of which are not required course readings, on a topic related to the final group project) is to give the student practice collecting and synthesizing information from the course and additional research; and writing a scholarly essay in APA format. The student should use no less than 3 academic sources. Your short paper should include: o A cover page with your name, title, date, professor’s name and course name and semester. o A general overview of the problem or issue you researched. (2-4 paragraphs) o A page about the problem, with some data or quotes from other authors about the problem. o A two or three page discussion about what information you found, and what perspectives other scholars have on the issue (a brief review of the literature). o A comparison of the views of the various scholars you read with the class discussions and your own analysis (1 page) o Conclusions – what do you now know about the subject, what can be learned, how has a particular article helped you to understand the subject? What more would you want to know and/or what more needs to be known or done about the subject? o Bibliography APA style (not counted in page count).
