Analyze and discuss the public health practitioner’s role in keeping communities safe in both your state and nationally
Your Perspective: Natural, occupational, and violence-related health concerns are prevalent in many communities in the US. From air pollution to community violence, hazards and dangers create challenges for residents and policymakers alike. This week in discussion, you will acclimate yourself to the numerous types of environmental health and safety issues in communities. To provide your perspective, you will choose a topic of interest within one of the following major headings:
The Environment (natural and built): topic examples- water pollution, pesticides, air quality
Injuries: topic examples- motor vehicle crashes, child abuse, community violence
Occupational Health (workplace): topic examples- falls, chemical exposures, workplace violence
Once you have chosen a topic, examine and provide an overview of the health issue on both the national and state levels. After reviewing your state’s health status in this area, describe how this status contributes to the overall health in communities across the state. Finally, analyze and discuss the public health practitioner’s role in keeping communities safe in both your state and nationally. Finally, identify organizations of relevance for this health issue on the state and national levels with which you (the public health practitioner) could work to implement the necessary strategies toward improvement.
The development of substantive posts will include complete answers to the questions posed, reflective and analytical thought, and the inclusion of APA formatted reference citations in the body of the post.
