Instructions Recall the case of Cody, a 6-year-old, who was presented in Week 1 of this course. His mother was visiting you when she expressed concerns about his behavior. Suppose, as you find out more about this family, the following information is revealed: Cody immigrated to the U.S. from Puerto Rico with his biological father 2 years ago. Mrs. Rivera is his stepmother, and has been his only parent since his father died in a car crash 6 months ago. A report from his preschool in Puerto Rico indicated concerns about some of his behaviors, including an inability to pay attention, impulse control problems, and hitting other children. No assessment was conducted there because his father brought him to the states shortly after the report was issued. You order a neurological consult and discover that Cody’s EEG is abnormal. Mrs. Rivera adds that she is surprised that Cody cannot recognize letters or words written in Spanish, his first language.
