Assume you are assigned the job of facilitating the end of an identity-based conflict between two people. Post how would you break through the identity issues to get the parties to talk with each other?

Too often, one fails to discuss or present controversial issues or negative patient events in the healthcare workplace. This is done to “keep the peace” or “maintain the status quo” or even because we fear speaking up may cost us our job. Identify at least 3 times you would have liked to share an idea or information but did not for fear of a negative reaction. Hypothesize what might have happened if you’d spoken up. In retrospect, do you wish you’d spoken up or are you happy you remained silent?
