You are to choose and select ONE case study from the following four options: • IKEA

 **Please choose your case study wisely as it will frame your assessment for this entire unit. This assignment requires you to conduct an analysis of your selected business according to the Business Model Canvas. The Business Model Canvas categorises the processes and internal activities of a business into 9 separate categories, each representing a building block in the creation of the product or service. These categories represent the four major aspects of a business; customers, offer, infrastructure, as well as financial viability. PROCESS Specifically, you are expected to: • Develop and design the current business model canvas for your selected organisation 
based on secondary research sources. • Fill in the various elements of the business model canvas, including a written summary for each section. Ensure that you link each element across to any other related elements • Present a pictorial/graphical representation of the canvas. 
 • Create a final assessment of the various strengths/weaknesses/threats/opportunities of the business model canvas you have generated. This should also be seen as a “what is wrong” with the current business and should be evaluative and critical in scope. 
Note, this component will play a role as a foundation for your next assignment. Again, you are encouraged to extend your understanding of these concepts through research and database usage. Please make sure you are also using relevant theories, questions and concepts you find appropriate from the modules.

 • This assignment is a great opportunity to put your research ability into practice. Where do you go to find this market data and statistics on trends, internal information and consumer research? A great place to start is the variety of databases available to you as students, which contain a variety of industry and market reports.  • Try to choose an organisation or business that has some significance to you: is this an industry you are interested or have connection with? This will lead to a more nuanced analysis. 
 • Feel free to be critical here in your conclusion: when evaluating the canvas think which activities and processes are the most significant for your organisation. This will assist you in the following task where you are expected to design a new business model. Ask yourself: 
 • Key Canvas Elements: Have you included all elements of the BMC? Don’t forget both a written summary (in a table?) and a graphical representation for clarity. 
 • Application of BMC: You must demonstrate that you understand the BMC through its use to structure your assignment. Please note: description and/or critique of the model itself is not required. HOWEVER you are expected to be critical of the organisational case study in your conclusion: what is wrong with the business? What has been exposed through the BMC application in terms of their strengths and weaknesses?

 • Use of research: Have you looked up a wide variety of sources? Have you read multiple reports from multiple perspectives? Do trade journals provide research insights here? 
 • Language use: Try to avoid use of commercial (or salesperson/marketing language that aims to “boast” the organisation’s achievements).
Remain objective. 
 • Structured, Organised Response: Does your assignment flow logically and sequentially? Are the different components of your BMC discussed in a sensible order? Have you made appropriate use of subheadings?
