GUIDELINES FOR CASE STUDY on SCHOOL SHOOTERS PRESENTATION

The purpose of this project is for students to gain additional knowledge about juvenile delinquency through careful analysis of a specific case involving a school shoter. This project will enhance students’ understanding of theories relevant to juvenile delinquency. Students will also gain skills in working collaboratively as well as in presenting to an audience.

Student will research their case, using academic journals, books and book chapters, academically credible website, newspapers, and other sources that Dr. Finley approves.

  • Each group must utilize a minimum of six sources for their presentation.
  • All sources used must be cited on a reference page
  • The case study should cover the following information about the case :
  • Who perpetrated the offense(s), what offense(s) were committed, how the offense(s) were committed, and in what setting location the offense(s) were committed ;
  • Background information about the juvenile offender, including home life, community, school information, and any other relevant background ;
  • Who was the victim(s) of the offense(s) and the way he/she/they were impacted ;
  • At least three specific theories that were presented in class and how they apply to this case ;
  • The response to the offense(s) and the final outcome for the offender, victims and other relevant parties.
