For this assignment, you will be placed (virtually) in a real-world scenario that occurs in schools. Please read the following description of the authentic performance task and complete the requirements as described in the scenario.

SCENARIO

Imagine you are the primary administrator of a preschool, and you recognize the value of culture in child development. This ‘culture’ can refer to the culture/climate in the classroom (refer to your readings for specific ideas) and it can also refer to culture/diversity in terms of building a preschool that makes families and children feel valued for their individual differences. Create a Culture and Diversity Plan for preschool staff and parents that will demonstrate the school’s commitment to families and an appreciation of culture in which you develop three key ideas (well-developed and detailed in terms of how you will implement each idea, why each is idea is valuable, and the outcome for each) focused on three areas:

• How the preschool will show an appreciation for diversity and culture
• Classroom activities to promote culture in development
• Options for family involvement in the preschool setting

Your plan should be realistic, coherent, and precise, and should address all three required components in a research-based manner using text support and outside research to create a comprehensive plan.

The plan should be 1250 words and should include at least four (4) citations. The sections should be clearly marked with headings so that your instructor knows which points you are addressing. Follow the guidelines for APA writing style. The title page and references page do not count towards the minimum word amount for this assignment. Be sure to be creative in your approach, include at least one big family event, and use outside resources for ideas.
