Qualitative Research Question

For this Discussion Question, please be sure to visit the Application 2 area before completing this Discussion posting.

Most research questions begin with an interest, a question that has been piqued by some observed event or phenomenon. In fact, interest is a necessary factor in research, as it serves as a continuous source of motivation for completing a study.

For this Discussion, you will be posting for peer review your initial qualitative research question which you will have completed in this week’s Application 2 assignment. You will first want to review the strategic choices and steps involved in developing a qualitative research design. Specifically, pay attention to the steps necessary for conducting interview research and provide discussion of APA requirements for clear, scholarly writing.

Be sure to create a question that can be answered by the interviewees with an in-depth answer—that is not a yes-or-no response

Doctoral Study Rubric

As you know, rubrics are used in this program to evaluate each learner’s performance on course assignments. The doctoral study, and each element that constitutes it, will also be assessed according to a rubric. Using a rubric allows for maximum transparency in what is expected of you and in the evaluation process itself.

By reviewing the rubric at the very outset of your doctoral study, you will be able to ensure you have a plan in place to systematically address each area on which you will be assessed. You will want to print and keep at hand a copy of the Doctoral Study Rubric.

For this Discussion, review the Doctoral Study Rubric (refer to the link in this Week’s Learning Resources) addressing the following:

• Identify three challenges that might pose a problem on your project.

• Classify a plan of action for demonstrating competency in each area of assessment.

• Consider the characteristics of a successful student-doctoral study chair relationship.
