Based on the group presentation in Assessment 1, write a 2,000 word individual report on the cross cultural management CM issues in reference to one of the selected negotiating teams presented in Assessment 1 (i.e., a hypothetical cross-cultural negotiation process). Choose an appropriate hypothetical business negotiation team & conduct the required research on cultural dimensions, leadership styles, ethical issues & value systems of these national backgrounds. Discuss in the report the issues which may affect negotiations between business people from those nations making reference to scenarios & examples to support your report. In writing the assignment you are expected to analyse the issues involved in the topic, based on your readings of appropriately cited references. You are expected to use a wide variety of sources including textbooks & journal articles (only citable & authoritative references), relevant illustrations & statistics to support your analysis & critical evaluation. The use of examples to develop & demonstrate an understanding of the topic is expected. LO1 Define & conceptualise ‘culture’: a difficult & contested area. LO4 To consider the effect of culture as an explanatory factor within existing approaches to understanding leadership & identify ways of enhancing intercultural communication & to highlight the importance of culture in negotiation processes. LO5 Identify philosophies underpinning the management of people & their links to culture. LO6 To increase awareness of the factors influencing motivation in a cross-cultural context.
