Define the context for the problem. Is it a structural problem? A process issue? A phenomenon? A behavior?
When you think about your potential research interests, do you think about why these topics attract you? Do you also think about how you will conduct your research and how you might design that research process? You can address these larger issues in a systematic way starting with your topic ideas. In this Discussion, you will share this process with your colleagues as you begin to work on the Application, discuss your work here, and then incorporate the ensuing comments and suggestions into your Application.
In DDBA 8160: Business Strategy and Innovation, you generated a Problem Statement. You may recall that in Week 1 of that course, you addressed a series of questions about your potential research Problem Statement, and you refined these questions for submission in Week 8. Here again are those questions:
·Define the context for the problem. Is it a structural problem? A process issue? A phenomenon? A behavior?
·How does the problem manifest itself in a business setting with which you are familiar or in the larger organization, industry, or even global setting?
·What evidence can you identify that shows that such a problem exists?
·What are the strategic and/or innovative aspects of the problem?
·How might you research the problem?
·How might you identify potential solutions or approaches to the problem?
For the purposes of this Discussion, you will focus primarily on the penultimate question, “How might you research the problem?” In order to do so, you will begin with this week’s Application. Once you have completed your initial draft of the Application, return here to submit it for peer review and discussion.
