Describe some of the current treatments available for this disorder. Which treatment would you choose and why?
Discussion responses should be on topic, original, and contribute to the quality of the discussion by making frequent informed references to lesson materials. Initial discussion responses should be around 200–300 words. Responses to your classmates or instructor do not need to be that long, but should be substantial (approximately 50 words), go beyond mere affirmation, and serve to further conversation.
To be considered for full credit, at least two or more responses to classmates that are thoughtful and advance the discussion should be made.
When you are ready to post to the Discussion Board, respond to the questions. Your responses should follow the conventions of Standard American English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.). Your writing should be well ordered, logical, and unified, as well as original and insightful. Your work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics. All references used should be cited and in APA style.
Topics Disorders of the Axial Skeleton
Disorders of the Axial Skeleton
The axial skeleton is composed of 80 bones. It is made up of the cranial bones as well as the bones of the thoracic cavity and the vertebral cavity. There are many disorders that affect the axial skeletal system including abnormal curvatures of the vertebral column, spina bifida, cranial malformations, etc.
This week you will research the bones that comprise the axial skeleton and conduct additional research on one disorder that affects this system. Please do not consider osteoporosis or Paget’s disease as those will be addressed in Seminar. Once your research is complete, answer the following:
● What disorder did you choose to write about?
● Which part of the axial skeleton does this disorder affect?
● What are the symptoms of this disorder?
● What are the long term effects of this disorder?
● Describe some of the current treatments available for this disorder. Which treatment would you choose and why?
● Is there any research for new potential treatment options? Explain.
