Jane Wheels is a 24-year-old married female who presents to her nurse

practitioner reporting lower abdominal pain, cramping, slight fever, and dysuria of

4 days duration. Her pelvic/speculum examreveals minimal vaginal discharge with

a small amount of visible mucopurulent drainage from the cervix. Bimanual

exam reveals uterine and adnexal tenderness as well as pain with cervical motion.

You diagnose Jane with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) and you prescribe a

medication and educational recommendations.
