For this discussion, please describe the difference between mandated and nonmandated benefits and give examples of each. Many companies, such as Google and Whole Foods give numerous nonmandated benefits to workers, as well as employee “perks,” such as informal workplaces, employee sabbaticals and various reward and discount programs. One obvious consequence of offering nonmandated benefits is cost — but what are the benefits of providing nonmandated benefits and perks? Do you think they outweigh cost? What is your experience from situations that you’ve been in in the past?
