In this short paper (dbl. spaced, standard 12-point font), you must discuss and evaluate the different approaches to the authority and place of Scripture in Evangelical, Liberal, and Neo-Orthodox thought. First, compare and contrast the views regarding the nature and authority of Scripture with reference to these three theological movements: Evangelical, Liberal, and Neo-Orthodox (as discussed in your textbooks). (Approx. 400-500 words) Second, analyze the strengths and/or weaknesses of each of the three approaches given in the first part (approx. 400-500 words). Especially, evaluate the impact and meaning of each view relative to Christian thought and doctrine (orthodoxy), and for lived Christian faith (orthopraxy). Explain which approach (in your view) is superior to the others (yes, you must decide which is better). Third, apply what you have learned to your contemporary context, both your Christian fellowship/church experience and your societal/culture experience (approx. 400-500 words). Reflect on how the best approach to Scripture (in your view) should affect your lifestyle, including your experience of and participation in Christian community (for example, how does this affect your relationship to authority structures, to others who do or do not share your views on Christian life or doctrine, etc.). Finally, discuss how the view you have chosen should affect your experience of and participation in contemporary society/culture.
