Discussion of a disaster event that occurred in the U.S

For this research paper the student will pick a disaster event that occurred in the U.S. at any given time. The student will focus the paper on the prominent leader or leaders during the crises. The crises can be any type large scale crisis the student chooses (this will be the topic submitted in week one that was approved by your instructor). The student will critique the leadership response. The student will illustrate the level of holistic planning that occurred prior to the event. The student will examine the level, degree, and success or lack thereof involving a multi-level coordinated preparedness and response strategy. Emphasis will be on preparedness planning and operational response. Be sure to analyze how and if cultural relevance was considered in the planning and response phases of the event. Construct culturally relevant plans or proposals that could have been used in this event for planning and response. Discuss if faith based agencies were used. Describe what if any use of the team approach took place. Offer steps, actions, or changes you would make to address the primary issues identified. Write a five (5) page (or more) paper describing your formulated change plan. Support your thoughts and plan with references from literature (The texts are sources along with your other readings as well as the FEMA-EMI courses you took.) Also, you will need to do your own research. Requirements: Written communication: Develop accurate written communication that conveys the overall goals of the project and does not detract from the overall message. The student will write a minimum of five full pages. The student will use a minimum of six references (Three of which may be the textbooks.)
