Diversity of the experience of puberty around the world
Students will participate in an online research activity about puberty around the world. Objectives: The purpose of this activity is to help students understand the diversity of the experience of puberty around the world. Students will take a deeper look at the developmental stage of adolescence by investigating puberty from a biopsychosocial perspective. Global Learning Outcome: Compare global perspectives on lifespan development. Materials: 1. World Map: http://geology.com/world/world-map.shtml 2. .pdf files on Moodle (chapter 11-14; 15-18 block) • Write at least a one-full-page paper (sinple space; paragraph format) that summarizes and applies your findings concerning the onset of puberty in another culture as follows: • 1st paragraph: summarize the findings for your assigned culture • 2nd paragraph: Utilizing Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model (pp22-25) as a reference point, how is the developmental stage of adolescence, marked by the onset of puberty, experienced differently/similarly around the world compared to the U.S.?
