Examine the effectiveness of the plural executive

Purpose: To examine a well-developed government topic that will aid in the development of an understanding of the state government. (Topics and paper MUST relate to Texas government) Detail: • 12 pt. font, Times New Roman, 1inch margins • 8-10 pages in length max PLUS works cited and cover page. • APA format required – make sure to look this up. Also, write an abstract and this DOES NOT count toward your page limit. • Eight (8) sources minimum. Acceptable sources are peer-reviewed journal articles or books (excluding textbook, do not use the textbook). Magazines, newspapers, websites etc. are not acceptable and will be grounds for a deduction • Papers will be submitted in the drop box and must be in Microsoft Word. No other format will be accepted. • Deadline is strict, no late papers. • Worth 150 points The paper should be analytical in nature. This means you must create a thesis/question and address it. Provide an introduction, roadmap, literature review, analysis, and conclusion. Topics should have a specific government focus. Choose something that will keep your interest. Suggested topics: – Examine the effectiveness of the plural executive – Examine the impact of a one-party state – Can Texas’ political culture change? – Should the Texas constitution be re-written? – What impact with same-sex marriage have on Texas? – What impact does federalism have on the state and its local governments? These are just suggestions. You can choose whatever topic that pertains to the course…… but it must pertain to the course! Remember, this is an analytical paper. You must present an argument for your question or thesis.
