Implementation Failure and Change Management
Management of the implementation process is concerned with management support, project risk, training, and user acceptance. Typical consequences of ineffective project management include cost overruns, missed deadlines, system performance that fails to meet user expectations, and inadequate functionality. In the case of IT systems, successful implementation includes managing change as part of systems development to avoid user resistance to business and system changes.
To Prepare:
Post by Day 3 an evaluation of what you think is the most frequent cause of IT implementation failures. Justify your answer. Explain how change management can help solve software implementation failures.
Week 8 Discussion
Technology and Social Change
New technologies have created new capabilities, including access, capture, speed, and permanence. Technology often has a more wide-ranging effect than the purpose for which it is chosen. As a result, advances in technology present both opportunities and threats to individuals, organizations, and society as a whole.
To Prepare:
Post by Day 3 an explanation of how the invention and widespread adoption of the technology you selected effected social change. Analyze who benefited or lost out due to the adoption of the technology. Evaluate whether or not you believe the development of this technology as well as technology development in general is consistent with Walden’s vision, mission, and commitment to social change and why.
