The reflection paper should be 3 pages long, no more, plus a cover page (1 page) and references page – bibliography (1 page), a total of five pages. The reflection paper should be objective and unbiased. The student must conduct enough research to have a clear understanding of the stakeholders’ perspective on the company assigned, and how the company presents itself to the public. The students should address the following questions to gain insight about the company. This will help the students develop a thesis statement and have an opinion about the company. Questions to think about and to help you reflect: 1. Company Overview: what is the company is in business for? History of the company, management structure, and development. Does the company conduct operations only within the U.S. and/or globally? 2. The Macro-environment: 2.1 Socio-cultural forces: 2.1.1 Costumers: Who are the company’s consumers? What is the consumers’ perception of the product(s) and/or service(s) the company provides? 2.1.2 Employees: What are the employees’ conditions of labor? How does the company communicate, and motivate their workforce? 2.1.3 Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility: What is the company doing in regards to corporate social responsibility? Is the company involved in unethical behavior? How does the company’s ethical stand affect the stakeholders? 2.2 Technological forces: (if applicable to the company researched) has the company created any technology that impacts society in a positive and/or negative way? 2.3 Political & Legal forces: 2.3.1 How much political power does the company have in regards to the U.S. government? 2.3.2 Is the company involved in lobbying? Is the company a member of a Political Action Committee? 2.3.3 Is or has the company been involved in any legal issues? Is the company involved in lawsuits or class action suits? 2.3.4 Were there any laws created to “help” the company’s business? 2.4 Economic forces: 2.4.1 In what ways does the economy affect the company’s value? 2.4.2 How much economic power does the company have? How is the company utilizing this economic power? How does this affect the stakeholders? 3. Conclusion: In this section the student must present the conclusion he/she has reached based on his/her findings. This section allows the student to voice his/her opinion. The conclusion gives the reflection paper a sense of completeness; this should be accomplished by first synthesizing the findings and second by making a reference to the future, leave the reader thinking about the actions he/she could take.
