Genetic and non-genetic factors that contribute to schizophrenia

You are to write a three-page paper exploring both genetic and non-genetic (e.g., environmental) factors that contribute to schizophrenia, utilizing at least four academic sources (i.e., scholarly textbooks, peer-reviewed journal articles) to support your claims. In particular, you will first conduct a literature review, utilizing at least two scholarly sources that discuss the genetic contributions to schizophrenia. Next, you will explore the non-genetic (e.g., environmental) influences on schizophrenia that are being researched in the psychological literature. For example, how, if at all, do environmental stressors contribute to one’s first psychotic break? How, if at all, do certain family environments, or substance abuse in adolescence, contribute to psychosis? Finally, you will conclude with your own thoughts on the role that each factor—genes and the environment—plays in the development of schizophrenia.
