While medical and paramedical industries have developed products to address a wide variety of conditions related to aging, there is growing concern from consumer groups and the medical community regarding current marketing practices about the overuse of prescription and non-prescription drugs and other treatments that provide limited or no medical benefit. Older or aging patients often fall prey to marketing gimmicks for treatments that fail to produce the stated results. The industry, however, argues that these treatments are revolutionary in relieving suffering.
