I want to go in this direction with the essay; The controversy surrounding the word religion lies with its etymology, the Latin word religare, which means “to tie, to bind.” This seems to be favored on the assumption that it helps explain the power religion has to bind a person to a community, culture, course of action, ideology, and how ultimately, religion was established as a form of societal control. Not to say there is no God, just that man created religion and it divides people.
