J & J Corporation, headquartered in New Jersey with a presence around the world, distributes and sells more than 1,000 different types of products globally. After the general manager of Puerto Rico, of Jamaican origin, retired, the corporation assigned a new US General Manager for operations in this country. Operations that are done in Puerto Rico, besides Puerto Ricans, Colombians also work there, Panamanians, Dominicans, Cubans, Haitians, Jamaicans and Trinidadians. The main language of the majority is Spanish and some English. However, not everyone is proficient in this language. When starting to work, the new general manager is faced with only knowing the English language, which makes it difficult to communicate with Spanish-speaking employees. In addition, he does not know the values, traditions and cultural characteristics of employees, nor the processes of negotiation with the clients. This lack of cultural skills of the general manager causes productivity to be reduced in the organization, mainly, by a series of changes that he decides to implement. Such changes create a high degree of instability and dissatisfaction in the organization. Among the changes implemented are the following: Changes to the policy from business casual to formal. Prohibits the use of Spanish in business meetings. He begins to replace the Caribbeans who occupy managerial positions by Americans. He does not engage in informal employee activities and discourages them. He underestimates Hispanic employees and makes discriminatory comments. He requires working on traditionally Latin American holidays, for example, in the celebration of the Epiphany and the day of the Three Kings. Answer and discuss the following four (4) questions: to.
