Choose a movie trailer for a film that has not been released. Don’t watch the movie just the trailer Analyze the trailer for elements of two of the following course concepts: exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness, cultural imperialism, violence, othering, biology as ideology (naturalizing), history of gendered/raced bodies, sublimation, fragmented/disunified subject. 1000-1500 words Use and cite course readings. Do not use outside sources. Include your movie trailer on the Works Cited or References page. Use these terms as defined by lectures and readings, not in a colloquial sense or in accordance with some outside definition. Central thesis is not necessary. However, you must have an introduction and conclusion. The Works Cited or References page does not count toward your word count. Do NOT exceed 1500 words. Fit what you need to say within the specified word count. Visit the Writing Center for one-on-one tutoring. They will help you with any stage of the writing process, including brainstorming ideas and getting the first ideas and words on paper. Note: To submit your reading response, click on the “Write Submission” block. You can then use Attach a File by selecting “Browse My Computer” and uploading your completed Reading Response. If you like, you can also cut and paste your essay in the Write Submission area. Please do NOT submit your essay in the “Comments” section. Grading Criteria Explanation of the theoretical concept Application of the theoretical concept. The analysis and conclusions must be based on the theoretical concepts rather than on uncritical assumptions or conclusions. Choice of content: details and illustrations Graceful language, syntax and usage (grammar) Appropriate citations of others’ work and ideas. Smooth and graceful integration of quotations. Proper use of MLA or APA citation style Organization of the paper. (You may organize your paper any way you like, but consciously choose and create your organization.)
