Perform a CRA (using BOTH CAMBRA and AAP forms) on a child under 6 years old

Many oral health issues lead to systemic health problems that go under-recognized. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner should be aware of and monitor oral health during routine health care maintenance visits. Oral health assessment is frequently missing in many APN curricula. By completing the modules and performing a Caries Risk Assessment (CRA) on a well child, the PNP student will be better equipped to manage and refer dental issues at an earlier stage. Assignment: complete the Smiles for Life modules before doing the CRA – 1. Perform a CRA (using BOTH CAMBRA and AAP forms) on a child under 6 years old (can be the same child on whom you do the Developmental Screening Tool – but it requires physically being able to see the child and inspect their mouth. 2. Which format pdo you prefer? Why? 3. Discuss new learning and how you will implement this in your PNP/CNS practice?
