Progressive reformer during the progressive Era (1900-1920).

This assignment asks you to think about the concerns of reformers during the Progressive Era (1900-1920). For this assignment, imagine that you are Progressive reformer. Using your notes from class and/or the textbook, choose one specific reform we discussed. You will want to include at least 2 characteristics of Progressivism (a handout detailing the 8 characteristics we talked about in class is attached for your reference) that are specific to the reform you choose. You will want to consider the following questions: Why do you care about this reform? What is your motivation? What is your plan to enact this change? Who will help you? What results do you expect? What is the actual outcome that happens regarding this issue during the Progressive Era? In discussing some of these questions, you will find it helpful to refer to the characteristics of Progressivism (especially the questions about motivations for reform and how you will enact your plan for reform). This is a creative assignment in which you imagine that you are living at this time. Use the first person (“I”) when writing. You may use any format you’d like: a letter, diary or series of diary entries, article in a newspaper, etc. Please be sure to use your own words when describing the events–do not copy from the textbook. Guidelines: The assignment must be at least 2 pages. Please use 12 point font (Times New Roman or similar), double spaced lines, and standard Word page set-up. Proper grammar/spelling is required to earn full points, so make sure you review what you’ve written.
