Reaction to the U.S. Supreme Court decision of Scott v Harris.

This paper, like all assignments, must be a minimum of 500 words (about two pages), typed with size 12, Times New Roman font, double spaced with proper grammar and spelling. Students must cite all work used; references and any direct quotations must be cited; submitted as Microsoft WORD (.doc) attachments to the web site. Papers submitted in another format may not be graded if the instructor is unable to open the file. Papers which do not cite another author’s work in quotation marks with an appropriate citation or papers which consist of several online articles “cut and pasted” together is plagiarism and the student will be given an “F” for the class. Your paper should describe your reaction to the U.S. Supreme Court decision of Scott v Harris. You should include a discussion of the legal standard requirement for police to use deadly force (read Tennessee v. Gardner and it’s also explained in your text book). Some ideas to stimulate your reaction could include: Compare and contrast the Court’s decision in Scott v. Harris to Gardner and explain whether you agreed with the Court’s rationale. Why or why not? You do not need to explain each court case in your paper – that is already known. It is your reaction to the decision that is important.
