Reflect text on ” I have a dream ” by Martin Luther king jr
Reflect on a Text: Writing a Speech Analysis – You should view this assignment as an opportunity to understand the foundation of Rhetoric and it’s importance in our class. OWL Purdue suggests the term “rhetorical situation, refers to any set of circumstances that involves at least one person using some sort of communication to modify the perspective of at least one other person.” What circumstances occurred that inspired the speech you selected? Nearly everything we read and hear is an argument. Speeches are special kinds of arguments and should be analyzed as such. Listeners should keep in mind the context of the situation involving the delivery and the audience — but a keen observer should also pay close attention to the particular elements of the text. “Since rhetoric is the art of effective communication, its principles can be applied to many facets of everyday life” (Lamb 109). It’s through this essay that you are allowed to see how politicians and leaders manipulate and influence their audiences using specific rhetorical devices in a manner that’s so effective that the speeches are revered even today. Essay must be 700 – 750 words and at least 5 paragraphs. Your format must be in traditional MLA essay structure. Review example essays in the textbook for specifics.
