Forum 1: Serving the World Through Christian Thinking – Reflections on Your Field of Study or Major Construct a post in which you examine how Biblical thinking and Christian scholarship in the field of study or major you have chosen (or are interested in if not declared yet) can serve the world. Be sure to provide clear examples and firm proposals with Biblical and other support. Use the readings from both the Piper and Mathis text and the Charry book. Construct one further response post to another student in which you gently critique if necessary, support or provide further proposals to their observations recorded in their posts. The response post should be of equal length to your original post. Forum 2: Serving the World Through Christian Thinking – The Characteristics of an Educated Person For this dialogue you will interact with a chapter from a foundational text in Christian Higher Education: Arthur F. Holmes’ The Idea of a Christian College. This book is considered the standard text for all interested in Christian education. You will read a chapter entitled “The Marks of an Educated Person” in which Holmes proposes the characteristics of a fully formed Christian thinker who participates in the Missio Dei (The Mission of God). Construct a post in which you explore how a truly educated person (as defined in the Holmes text) can serve the world. Be sure to provide clear and well-supported examples. Construct one further response post to another student in which you gently critique if necessary, support or provide further proposals to their observations recorded in their posts. The response post should be of equal length to your original post.
