I posted some links on the home page about voter suppression in the US during the 2018 midterms and the idea of having Election Day be a national holiday in the US.

Think about these and other attempts by leaders/parties in the US (and states) to subvert democracy by trying to change the rules and/or capture the referees/opponents. How can this be going on still today? Feel free to also think about efforts to subvert democracy in your region and use that here. Is what President Trump is doing with the “national emergency” fit into what we discussed with Chapter 4. You could also research more about the Patriot Act today. Or other countries that have used crises to become less democratic (Duterte and the Philippines or Sisi in Egypt or Modi in India, etc…)
