The critical appraisal of the research evidence associated with an professional practice

I am now working as a Diabetes nurse in an out-patient educational clinic. In the clinic, interview of patients with diabetes is a routine. My responsibility is to education them and help them to work out a possible plan for diabetes control. Most of them are type 2 diabetes patients. Self Monitoring of Blood Glucose (SMBG) is a useful tool for monitoring of blood glucose. However, many patient only perform the SMBG irregularly. During the educational interview, most of the patients seems didn’t know the purpose of SMBG in relation to glycaemic control. It is important to know the effect of SMBG (pre-prandial and post-prandial SMBG) in diabetes control. This helps the educational nurse to tell the patients most appropriate way to monitor the blood glucose level with a solid evidence based support and finally achieve good diabetes control. 1. first research questions using PICO In type 2 diabetes patients (P), is the using of regular SMBG testing (I) then those are poorly compliance in using SMBG (C) has better diabetes control (O). 2.The second question ‘In type 2 DM patients (P), what is the factors affecting the poor compliance (O) of SMBG (I) application?’ I wrote the outline of assignment and the feedback from lecturer is attached For the first question, you need to search a qualitative and a quantitative paper for critical appraisal (not the two I stated in my outline). And for the second question, one of two papers was rejected by the lecturer, thus you need to find one for this assignment.
