Triptych of My Mother, Thwarted Thespian, Auditioning for the Part of Her Life

Each essay is expected to be between 2-3 pages in length and will focus on both the rhetoric strategies and the cultural elements that are presented in the chosen reading. All essays must be typed (in 12-point Times New Roman) and double-spaced. Students are expected to use at least a minimum of one secondary source, correctly documented utilizing APA-style citations, to help support their thesis and ideas. Essays must also include an appropriate, original title; contain a clear, explicit, assertive, objectively worded thesis statement (thesis statements are never a question); and (unless otherwise indicated) avoid the use of the first person (I, me, my, mine, us, our, we) and never use the second person (you, you are, and your) throughout. All work should be grammatically correct, free of errors in mechanics, grammar, usage, spelling, and format.
