Work your way through the following problem: Your neighbor is a trustee of your subdivision. She want to repair the diving board at the neighborhood pool, but a county inspector told the trustees that the diving board cannot be repaired or replaced because the pool is only eleven feet deep, which he states is too shallow to meet the requirements of the county recreational safety code. You do some research into the county recreational safety code and find the following provision:

“Diving Boards. Effective January 1, 2007, no diving board shall be repaired, replaced, or reconstructed at any public or private swimming, diving, or bathing pool unless the pool is at least thirteen feet deep at the center point or drain of the area used for diving. Effective January 1, 2008, it shall be unlawful to maintain or use any diving board at any public or private swimming, diving, or bathing pool unless the pool is at least thirteen feet deep at the center point or drain of the area used for diving. No exceptions shall be made in either case for diving boards already in existence and use on either of the two effective dates.”
