Throughout these discussions, you have learned how mathematical formulas represent relationships between real-world data using linear functions. Other equations, including non-linear functions, can be used to represent other situations and solve real-world problems.

In your final discussion, reflect on what you learned from this exercise and consider how you might use this approach in the future.

For you initial post, submit the following information:

  • Introduction – Topic Statement
  • Equation – Show your equations from Unit 3 and make any adjustments needed.
  • Illustration (or image) of final graph.
  • Options for inserting your image: Copy and paste, use a screen shot, or any other method you choose.
  • Summary of Discussions 2 – 5.

Also, answer the following questions for the purpose of this discussion:

  • What did you learn from using real data in an equation?
  • What changes to variables or data collection do you think could provide more reliable results? If last week you thought your data was not linear or showed no correlation, then what might you have changed to discover a relationship that would be linear?
  • Provide another example of two real-world variables whose relationship might be useful for you to analyze using this method.

When responding to your classmates, consider providing them with examples related to their variables they may not have thought of.
