What is the Best Type of Market Research?

Researching the question of quantitative versus qualitative marketing research will allow you to assess both the advantages and disadvantages of these types of research. This exercise will allow you to see that both of these measures are a very important resource for the marketing manager.

Marketing research involves deciphering actions, or behavioral purpose to numbers. Marketers may opt for the more stimulating type of research that focus groups bring as opposed to sheer volume of quantitative data.

Based on your readings, respond to the following:

•  In your opinion marketing research should be quantitative or qualitative. Please support your answer with examples from your textbook or other resources.

Please use the discussion activity question to have meaningful exchanges with your classmates. If you need to perform some additional research to support your claims, then please do so but be sure to cite your sources. Please note that in order to perform a discussion you are required to participate during the module period. You must respond to at least two other postings to receive full credit. These responses must be related to the content of another student’s post and not simply telling someone they did a “good job” (please do that as well).

See the Discussion Rubric for details.  Read any postings already provided by your instructor or fellow students. Remember to read the feedback to your own major posts and reply to it throughout the module.
