This is a research task, the topic focus is, Rome: Rome in the time of the Julio-Claudians AD 14 – 69. OUTCOMES ASSESSED – Identify & account for differing perspectives and interpretations of the past – Locate, select & organise relevant information from a variety of sources – Communicate a knowledge and understanding of historical features and issues using appropriate oral & written forms. Task Description: EVALUATE the ancient literary tradition of ONE Julio-Claudian Princep (Tiberius). You should address at least THREE aspects of their principate selected from the syllabus dot points. INCLUDE . Portfolio style format: Title Page, contents – 2,000 – 2,500 words, pictures (tables/graphs, timelines, sources- if needed to visually represent an idea) . Ancient interpretations (Tacitus, Suetonius, Cassius Dio, Vellius Paterculus, Seneca etc) . Modern interpretations (Barret, Griffin, Rowe, Hurley etc) . Archaeological evidence (Sculpture, numismatic evidence, sites, buildings, artefacts etc) . An professional university level annotated bibliography (three top used sources at least) WILL BE ASSESSED ON: . Identify differing perspectives and interpretations of the Julio Claudians . Present the findings of independent research in written form . Locate, select & organise relevant information from a range of ancient & modern , written & archaeological sources EXPECTED LENGTH; 2,000 – 2,500 CRITERIA; – Provides a sustained and logical account of why and/or how individuals groups, events and forces and ideas are related. Report is of required length – Demonstrate comprehensive and accurate historical knowledge and understanding relevant to the question – Supports the response with detailed and accurate information from relevant sources: may analyse and evaluate sources – Presents a cohesive response using a range of appropriate historical terms and concepts.
