CHAPTERS 3-4 AND 15-16 Prompt: This week’s course content covers the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the concept of Federalism in relation to American government. As such, answer the following two short-essay questions with at least 500 words for each response. Remember: The Constitution is all about what the powers of the Federal Government and what it ‘can’ do. The Bill of Rights is all about the powers of individuals and states and everything the Federal Government ‘can’t do’ in relation to these rights. Why did some of the Founders and many early Americans demand that a ‘Bill of Rights’ be added to the Constitution? What did they believe and were they fearful of? Our civil liberties are expressed in the Bill of Rights, but what are ‘civil rights’ in relation to ‘civil liberties’? (SEE: Chapter 16)
