Why do hurricanes rotate counter-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere? 

Why do hurricanes rotate counter-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere?

Note this seems the opposite of what you would expect from the Coriolis Effect. Help each other out on the discussion board if you want.
