Why was the United States unable to avoid entering a Cold War with the Soviet Union?

At least three double-spaced pages of text (Times New Roman, font size 12) and you must consult a minimum of two academically credible sources. Bibliographies and citations will be in MLA. Topics that could be touched on in the essay: If stopping aggression in Europe was something the US was attempting to stop, did they fail in stopping the aggression of the USSR in other parts of the world — like Asia? Who won? Could the Cold War have been avoided?
