On March 9th 2015, Apple Inc. launched the Apple Watch, the company’s second major innovation released in the last 5 years under the new CEO Tim Cook.
Apple’s strategy of shifting its business into non-PC products had thrived so far, driven by the smashing success of the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. Yet challenges abounded. Mac sales in the worldwide PC market while growing, are still merely 8%. iPhones and iPads face increasing competition in the smartphone industry. And the AppleTV like the Mac Mini has struggled to make any impact at all.
